NDC Infrared Engineering, Spectris Group,
Manager, Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Services
May 2000-July 2006
Managed group of engineers and designers, responsible for new product development, product enhancements, engineer-to-order, document control and manufacturing engineering.
Ø Developed high-precision scanning equipment, measurement sensors and operator interfaces resulting in better performance, new market penetration (paper, bi-axially stretched film, asphalt), and significant product cost savings.
Ø Introduced intelligent part numbering system across product portfolio resulting in greater order accuracy, reduced front-end cycle time and lower operating costs.
Ø Developed innovative technique for precision alignment of large scale scanning equipment resulting in industry best accuracy at lowest production costs.
Ø Technical support leader for sales and marketing for new products.
Honeywell-Measurex,
Senior Development Engineer
August 1997 – April 2000
Member of 9 man acquisition integration team. Responsibilities included recommendations to top management for rationalization of development groups, product consolidation, definition and management of follow-on development programs.
Ø Designed and built a 40ft thermal heat chamber used for product validation and testing.
Ø Designed and prototyped several measurement sensor packages to consolidate disparate product families.
Ø Designed, tested and released a modular multi-sensor enclosure for harsh environments.
Ø Development team member for a non-scanning infrared weight measurement for film and paper.
Ø Developed a novel air mass compensation temperature sensor to remotely measure harsh environment air temperature continuously and reliably.
Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control,
Senior Project Manager
August 1996 – July 1997
Managed the successful introduction and manufacturing release of the Honeywell Plantscape product. This was a joint development between Rockwell and Honeywell.
Honeywell
Project/Development Engineer
January 1995 – July 1996
Reporting to company president, completed a variety of assignments related to the acquisition integration.
Ø Developed an innovative scheme for reducing vibration and enabling close tolerance machining of large scale weldments. Member of scanner development and validation group.
Ø Directed conversion of manufacturing to work-cells resulting in lower costs, greater throughput and improved quality. Managed production operations during and after this process.
Ø Spun off a 20 man in-house machining and fabrication operation to become a private company. Responsibilities included negotiations, contracts, and separation terms for personnel, equipment, pricing, forecasting and leased space.
Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control,
Mechanical Development Engineer
March 1987 – December 1994
Ø May 1991 – Dec 1994, Member of development team focused on ergonomic control room equipment. Design required 21 large and small injection molded parts. Received two design patents.
Ø March 1987 – April 1991, Manufacturing process engineer. Instituted statistical process controls. Solved costly process/product problems.
